MONARCH is a group consisting of third and fourth year students of the jazz department of the Fontys Academy of Performing Arts. They reach for the boundaries of jazz. Exploration, freedom and innovation are only a few keywords which describe their music. Old and well known repertoire but in a new and imaginative way together with own compositions.
Oisterwijk's finest Stijn Mol on trumpet forms the horn section together with Rik van der Made on saxophone. Together they are responsible for subtle lines and screaming solos. Lukas Hebels on piano and Tijn Trommelen on guitar provide a big chunk of charisma, a little sensuality and most of all harmony for the band. The rhythmic tandem of this group is part Italian fury and part sensible seniority with Mattia Matranga on double bass and Jorrit Romme on drums. All this under the inspiring leadership of the world renowned Teus Nobel. All together they will take the audience on a swinging spiritual journey through the history of jazz.
