Almost Jazz Ensemble
The “Almost Jazz” ensemble, is an ensemble coached by the one and only Toon de Gouw. This ensemble contains of guitarist Jens Timmermans, who came to do his minor at AMPA. A lovely pianist called Wenqian Li. On drums they got Willem van der Zanden. The bass is played by Luke Fitzgerald (yup, that’s his real last name) and vocals are done by Julia Cremers. The reason behind the name “The almost Jazz Ensemble” is because they like to play Jazzstandards but also add a bits of pop, soul and rock in the mix. If you love Jazz, but also love a good mix of Jazz with other genres, come and see them play at Paradox Tilburg this Wednesday.

Fontys Close Harmony Choir
These students at Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg an study Jazz Vocals at AMPA (Academy for Music and Performance Arts). At the start of the year, they came together and became a choir. They have been harmonising and singing together ever since.
Henk Kraaijeveld is leading the choir. Henk is a jazz singer and choir leader graduated cum laude from Utrecht Conservatory in 2012 and studied at Manhattan School of Music, New York with renowned songwriter, composer and arranger Peter Eldridge. These students are very thrilled to be working with Henk!
Their repertoire is very varied. They go from ballads like ‘In my life’ by the Beatles, to up-tempo songs like ‘Joyful, Joyful’ from the film ‘Sister Act 2’. They will also sing pieces that they arranged themselves. So, if you like Jazz close harmony groups, you should definitely come and listen to the Fontys choir. They are very excited to perform!
NOAH'S ARK
Noah’s Ark is a jazz ensemble from Fontys, Tilburg. They investigate a wide repertoire from jazz classics to modern jazz tunes from local composers. This evening they will play tunes from Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley.
The ensemble has a varied line up with on piano Jarich Adamson from The Hague, Vocalist Melissa Tastimur from Istanbul, Sijmen Kroot from Udenhout on trumpet, Noah Spierts from Breda on guitar, on bass Andrés Hühner from Chile and Hein Stinesen from Oosterhout on drums.
Cuban/Latin Ensemble o.l.v. Michiel Westerhuis (instrumentaal)
Het Instrumental Latin Ensemble bestaat uit 8 studenten van A.M.P.A. (Academy for Music and Performing Arts). Deze studenten komen uit allerlei delen van de wereld. Chili, Italië, Korea, Litouwen en Nederland en hebben Latin American Music als gemene deler. Het repertoire bestaat uit een mix Latin American standards. Het hele scala aan Afro Cuban ritmes en sferen is breeduit aanwezig, van intieme, sensuele Cha Cha Cha’s tot explosieve Mambo’s . Muziek van de grote namen uit de Afro Latin Music zoals Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie en Ray Barretto . Muziek wat ritmisch zeer vernuftig in elkaar steekt en daardoor aanstekelijk werkt op de heupen. Maar altijd met een brede glimlach naar Jazz. Prachtige muziek om van te genieten en lekker weg te dromen naar Tropische oorden……
