Tonight we present 2 various sets with a selection of local Jazzstandards composed by jazzmusicians from Brabant, followed by the weekly Jazzsession led by guitarplayer Noah Spierts.
SET 2 - NOAH'S ARK Noah’s Ark is a jazz ensemble from Fontys, Tilburg. They investigate a wide repertoire from Cannonball Adderley classics to modern jazz tunes from local composers. This evening they will play tunes from het Brabants Realbook, which is a collection of pieces from contemporary jazz musicians from Noord Brabant including Jeroen van Vliet, Michiel Stekelenburg, Sanne Rambags and more. Special guest tonight is saxophone player "extraordinaire" Mete Erker
SET 2 - TIM LANGENDIJK ENSEMBLE (T.L.E.) T.L.E. is a school ensemble from the FHK jazz department that functions under the musical guidance of guitarist and teacher Tim Langedijk. The ensemble focusses on playing more contemporary, pop-influenced “jazz” music. For this event they will perform pieces from “Het Brabants Realbook” with guest soloist Mete Erker (saxophone). The group consists out of vocalists Paloma Lázaro Arteaga (Spain) and Sophia Vega Sanchez (Netherlands), drummer Youri Traa (Netherlands), Bassist Andrés Hühner Paulsen (Chili) and guitarist Noah Spierts (Netherlands).
METE ERKER Mete Erker is renowned for his rich and warm sound, strong drive, his very personal style and expressive way of playing. Throughout the years he’s worked with musicians like Peter Erskine, David Liebman, senegalese master drummer Doudou N’Diaye Rose, southafrican jazz legend Winston Mankunku, and russian piano virtuoso Simon Nabatov.
De beide ensembles Noah’s Ark en het Tim Langendijk Ensemble voeren aan aantal muziekstukken uit van Brabantse jazzcomponisten afgewisseld met internationale jazzklassiekers. Na afloop gaat de avond door met de wekelijkse jazzsessie. Sessieleider is de onvermoeibare gitarist Noah Spierts! De entree is GRATIS.
