This young jazz ensemble has a focus on playing classic standards from The Real Book with a deep respect for tradition and passion for improvisation. By learning from the most common ways of playing these world-renowned tunes they create their own voice, blending the conventions of jazz with their own personal flair. Focusing on drawing inspiration from the greats who have shaped the jazz world. The goal of each performance is honouring the legacy and essence of jazz – spontaneous and dynamic – making it their own and taking it to the forefront of their sound.
Nordic Jazz Ensemble - 19:40-20:00
Nordic Jazz Ensemble is a student ensemble from Fontys Academy of the Arts inspired by the sounds and tradition of Nordic Jazz. Drawing on jazz tradition but incorporating elements from minimalism and folk music, creating atmospheric moods by working with more open forms and melody driven structures, soulful rhythms and captivating melodies with rich sounds of jazz blend with the cool, crisp vibes of the North for an unforgettable musical journey. Artists from Denmark, Finland, Sweden and other northern countries have shaped a distinctive aesthetic within the contemporary jazz world. With a repertoire ranging from composers like Kenny Wheeler to artists such as Christian Wallumrød and Wolfgang Muthspiel we want to share with you our take on this sound today.

Het Electronic ensemble is een 6-koppige band die je de beste tunes brengt van o.a. Robert Glasper, Snarky Puppy en Joshua Redman. Met een combinatie van strakke drums en een leger van pedalen brengen ze gegarandeerd de dansvloer tot leven. Of je nou wilt dansen of een sterk staaltje virtuositeit wilt bewonderen, ben je hier op de juiste plek. Dit ensemble bestaat uit studenten van het Conservatorium Tillburg en de Rockacademie.
