VO ENSEMBLE
The VO ensemble is the introduction to jazz for pre-bachelor students from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Tilburg. These freshly educated musicians will bring standards to life in the most jazz appropriate way. The band ops for a dominantly Latin repertoire with grooves brought by drummer Youri Traa, rockacademy’s bassist Levi Verheijen, pianist Thomas Zagers, and vocalist Afke Flaviana. Guided by the jazz department’s very own Marc van Rooij, this group is excited to present their first performance in affiliation with the Fontys school of Arts!

SKIP STEF - FONTYS FUSION ENSEMBLE
Skip Stef is a band formed by the members of Fonty's jazz school Fusion Ensemble. The ensemble is directed Stef Joosten, bass teacher and ultimate inspiration for the band name. The band's main characteristic is its deep groove and challenging metrics, as well as beautiful melodies and personal exploration on each piece.
The repertoire is fresh and different, with elements of funk, acid jazz, world music and rock. The pieces performed come from a wide range of composers, from Weather Report to Stevie Wonder.
Skip Stef counts with members from all over the world; Simone Formisano from Italy on drums and Andrés Hühner from Chile on the electric bass are the rhythm section, the Dutch guitar player Patrick van der Sluis and south Korean Sujin Park on the grand piano provide the harmony layers, and Pau Li Liem from the Netherlands is the main singer.
